Richard Howell has been a stalwart at Narberth CC for many years, both on and off the field.

He was well placed therefore, to give Bill Carne his Narberth side of the 21st century.

“It has certainly given me something to think about," he admitted.

"I’m aware that others in the club would totally disagree with some players I have picked but I would like to point out this is my choice only – and not the club's choice.”

1. Richard Adams

Undoubtedly Narberth’s most consistent opening batsman, scoring seven tons to date, all of which were not out. Richard has a highest score of 126 and highest opening partnership with Had Luff of 267.

2. Marc Hughes 

A very consistent batsman for Narberth who unfortunately retired too early. He had four centuries with a top score of 135 no and also scored 97 no playing for the county. No mean fielder either, as an added bonus.

3. Mike Scale

A top order batsman and handy wicket keeper. A true gentleman of the game. He scored numerous 50’s with a top score of 99 no against Hook;  although during this game his 100 was clapped - however at tea time he was told he had scored 99 following a check of the score book!

4. Kyle Quartermaine

Kyle is a destructive top order batsman and superb fielder who has smashed numerous centuries, with a top score of 174 no - but his best ton was 120 against Carew whilst we had a depleted side. One of the most powerful batsmen in the County.

5. Wayne Howells

Another top-order batsman and accurate bowler who always bowls a nagging length. He has a highest score of 93 no and best bowling of 7-15, both of which were against Whitland, for whom he know plays.

6. Ben Quartermaine

Ben is a middle order batsman and opening bowler, with a top score of 75 and best figures of 6-20 against Burton. Ben has had numerous five-wicket hauls. One of our current most consistent bowlers.

7. David Johns

Davy is our current 1st team captain, middle-order batsman and bowler. He has a highest score of 102 and best bowling of 6-20. He is a superb fielder and was a member of the team which won the league in 1997.

8. Ben Hughes

Ben Hughes is our opening bowler and middle order batsman. He has taken 6 wicket hauls and highest score to date is 55. He represented the County in 2008, playing against Glamorgan and his claim to fame is dismissing David Hemp!

9. Ian Hughes

A left-arm bowler who started his career as a seam bowler and in later years changed to spin, at which he has proved to be a great success. His best figures were 7-6 with numerous five-wicket hauls. His highest score was 69. Now playing his cricket at Carmarthen Wanderers.

10. Greg Morris

Greg is a leg spin bowler and gritty batsman. He was part of the 1997 league-winning team. Best bowling figures of 7-20 and a real character on and off the field.

11. Matthew Johns

Matthew is an off-spin bowler and another member of the 1997 league winning team. His off spin bowling is extremely accurate and hard to get away. He has had numerous five-wicket hauls, with best figures of 6-30.

12. Tom Richards

A top order batsman who, at the early age of 14 whilst playing for Narberth 2nds, he scored his first ton against Herbrandston.

Other players who have contributed over the years and deserve a mention:

Paul Phillips – A top order batsman scored 3 tons and also had two 99 no.

Jordan Howell – Middle order batsman. Represented Wales at Under 10’s and 11’s. Top score of 84 and best bowling of 6-5 against St Ishmaels in the same match.

Ollie Cook – An all rounder. Great character on and off the field. Top score of 104 against Kilgetty and bowling figures of 7-9 against Pembroke. Ollie was also a part of the 1997 league winning team.

Bobbie Simons - Opening batsman and wicket keeper - one of best that Narberth has had. Scored several tons in his career. He has been great servant for Narberth. Bobbie has coached numerous junior teams and spends much of his time on the ground.

Mike Johns - opening batsman. He has scored two tons with a highest score of 130. Also had a 230 opening partnership with Bobbie Simons. Mike was also a member of the 1997 league winning team.
