Pembrokeshire Ladies’ Cricket Cup quarter final: Haverfordwest Ladies (65-5) lost to Hook Ladies (66-2) by 8 wickets

It ended up a comfortable win for Hook at The Racecourse as they overcame hosts Haverfordwest to set a Pembrokeshire Ladies’ Cricket Cup semi final with Burton.

The Town’s openers Awen Prysor and Nia Williams started steadily before the latter was caught by Kate Farr off the bowling of Kacey Arran for 10 (one four) - and then No 3 Meg Griffiths was bowled by Kath Huxley without scoring.

But Prysor and Ceri Coleman-Phillips helped the home side rebuild, taking the score past 50 before Prysor was clean bowled by Hayley Thomas.

Jo Price (3) and Katy Lewis (7) came and went as Gracie Morris and Arran again took wickets, but Coleman-Phillips kept picking up the singles to finish 22 not out, with Helen Abbott (1 not out) at the other end as The Town finished 65-5 in 20 overs.

For Hook, it was Arran who finished as the pick of the bowlers with 2-16.

The total was never likely to be enough against a strong Hook side though, and Farr and Arran made a quick start in the reply as they reached 39-0 in five overs.

It was the youngster who cracked three fours to reach 33 before being bowled by Price, and one wicket brought two when 15-year-old Leila Egelstaff skittled Sarah Owens before she could get off the mark.

But Farr finished 14 not out as she was joined by Maisy Davis in easing Hook through with more than 10 overs to spare.

Overall though, it was a decent run out for both sides, with Hook now progressing to the final four and Haverfordwest getting more important game time in as they continue to develop as a new, improving side.
