Narberth RFC is in the Championship League of the WRU - but it is not just their players who are part of the team.

Behind the scenes there is a set of champion sponsors who maintain and promote high standards in their own organisations and carry that through to supporting the Pembrokeshire Club in running the community business.

Recently, Hywel Griffiths Plant Hire Contractors excavated the foundations for the new large Snack Bar which will replace an outdated tiny burger cabin. The new building will also provide indoor seating for 22 patrons to meet and socialise and enjoy their refreshments. Hywel and his men carefully placed the steel reinforcing mesh and damp proof membrane which had been supplied by Housing Site Developers R&M Williams.

The teamwork was then generously backed up by Mr Ian Harries of G D Harries & Sons Ltd who donated the high strength concrete for the reinforced floor slab laid at a critical level to enable wheelchair users to gain entry into the snack bar without having to negotiate steps.

Local builder Kevin Holgate has volunteered to lay the substructure brickwork using sand and cement donated by LBS Builders Merchants Ltd.

Committee man Malcom Macphee was on hand to see the work in progress. He said: “All of the committee members are absolutely delighted with the progress which has been made. In these stringent Covid-19 times, when it is difficult to maintain a good regular business cashflow, the financial support offered by these very generous sponsors is a vital source of support to the rugby club."

At the future official opening of the facility all of the sponsors will be invited for a meal and drinks to celebrate their achievement and to repeat the thanks due to them.
