MANAGER Wayne Jones kept his feet firmly on the ground after Haverfordwest’s emphatic 6-0 victory over Corrie Brecons in the Welsh Cup at the weekend.

What made the victory all the sweeter was Danny Williams finding the net on his third return to the club and striker Ben Fawcett scoring a brace to take his tally to four goals in two games.

On Williams’ triumphant return manager Jones said there is more to come from the forward.

“He’s a few weeks behind the other players in terms of fitness,” said Jones. “It was important we gave him game time today. He scored one, created one so I am pleased with that. He knows the hard work starts for him now.

“I thought it was a professional performance. Credit to Brecon they worked their socks off but from our point of view it was vital we got a win and a clean sheet. Six offensive players scored so that is important when you look at it and Ben scored another two which I am pleased with.”

Alhagi Touray Sisay led the line and had a hatful of chances to open his account for the Bluebirds. The big striker was a menace for Corrie but was replaced on the hour mark.

"It was precautionary," said Jones. "He had a little kick first half and it got a little tighter as the game went on."

Sisay still hasn't scored yet for the Bluebirds after his arrival in the summer, but manager Jones has no worries that the big striker is going to find the net.

"To be fair to the boy he cannot buy a goal at the moment.

"He is getting into the positions and he is effective for us. He is giving us a different option how he can play, he holds the ball up well, works hard, listen the goals will come and when they do they will come thick and fast. He has settled in well and it was nice to give him a rest in preparation for Bala next week."

-Match report: Haverfordwest 6-0 Brecon Corries

It was no surprise that County were far superior than their fourth tier opponents, Mid Wales League East's Brecon Corinthians.

Goals from Jack Wilson, Mason Jones-Thomas, Kieran Lewis and two by Ben Fawcett, as well as a goal on his return to the club for Danny Williams led to an emphatic victory for the Bluebirds.
