Haverfordwest County got a deserved and dramatic late equaliser as they played out a 1-1 draw against Connah's Quay Nomads at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium.

The scoring was opened during the rainy first half when Alhagi Touray Sisay committed a foul inside the area, and Nomads captain Callum Morris smashed the ball down the centre of the goal from 12 yards.

But after much pressure and many chances, the Bluebirds got their equaliser when Jack Wilson's cross resulted in a scramble which ended with Ben Fawcett poking the ball over the line.

Haverfordwest had their chances to take the lead before Morris' penalty, the best being a counter attack 20 minutes in when Wilson shot weakly instead of passing out wide to Fawcett.

Even after the opening goal, the Bluebirds could have gone in level at half time after Sisay was fouled just outside the box, but Elliot Scotcher's free kick was well over the bar.

Scotcher and Wilson both had shots from range earlier on in the first half, but neither proved any trouble for Oliver Byrne in the Nomads goal.

In the second half, County still pushed for the equaliser, their best chance coming when Wilson was found by Jazz Richards late on, and his chip over Byrne trailed slowly towards the goal before hitting the post.

Wilson had been involved in an earlier chance, as he fed through Sisay who was able to shoot with his left foot at a tight angle.

However, a Nomads defender blocked his shot for a corner, which came to nothing as Lewis' shot went well over the bar.

Sisay also linked up with Fawcett for an opportunity, but visitors' substitute Harrison Webster stood strong and kept up with the number nine.

It was Webster again who foiled a Sisay opportunity after the Spaniard intercepted to run on to Byrne's goal, but the Nomads left back kept with him too.

The entire Nomads defence stood strong throughout the second half, while not offering much going forward, as they defended their 1-0 lead.

Scotcher had two more chances to equalise, with two more long-range efforts, one of which was narrowly wide and one left-footed volley while under pressure from Aeron Edwards.

But the Nomads defence was not enough as Fawcett poked home the 88th-minute equaliser, giving the Haverfordwest faithful what they deserved, and causing Wayne Jones to jump in the air on the pitch in celebration.
