PEMBROKESHIRE came out on top in the Welsh Schools U13s Girls crunch game against Ceredigion.

A high quality game of football included a 25 yard shot that rifled into the net scored by Millie Jones as Pembs ran out 5-1 winners away from home.

After a tight opening quarter of an hour, Pembs took the lead through Sophie Cox, weaving her way through the defence and slotting home.

Five minutes later and Pembs were 2-0 up through Evie Clark’s excellent volley following a good delivery from a corner.

Mollie Jones finished the scoring in the first half with a sharp turn on the edge of the box and drilling her shot into the top corner.

Ceredigion were pushing forward as well, but were held at bay by a solid Pembs defence and some excellent goalkeeping from Bethan Chapman.

The start of the second half saw a few changes from both sides, and Ceredigion pushed hard to get back into the game.

Pembs managed to weather the storm and take back control of the game.

Millie Jones, pushing forward from right back, scored with a superb strike from 25 yards out. Lauren Cox then completed the scoring for Pembs cutting through the defence and rifling the ball into the roof of the net.

Ceredigion pulled a goal back with another great strike to earn a well-deserved consolation goal.
