Kelsey Williams has competed in the British Age Group Championships in Sheffield for the third consecutive year.

Kelsey, 13, from Merlins Bridge, is a pupil of Ysgol y Preseli. She qualified to swim as an individual in the 100 and 200 metre breaststroke, and also in the 200 and 400 metre individual medley.

By qualifying in these events, Kelsey gained the opportunity to swim with the top 30 swimmers in Great Britain.

She made the finals in the 100 and 200 breaststroke (after qualifying through the heats), and finished fifth in the former and ninth in the latter.

Kelsey also swam a personal best time in the 200 individual medley, but didn't qualify for the finals.

She was also part of a Pembrokeshire's relay team who qualified to swim in the 4 x 100 freestyle and the 4 x 100 medley relay.

Kelsey wanted to express thanks to the Haverfordwest pool Foundation Trust for their financial help towards the week's accommodation and meals.

She also thanked Haverfordwest Town Council for assisting with the entry costs to the individual events and chaperone pass Kelsey was also supported by Haverfordwest (Seals) swimming club, who kindly matched the Town Council award, and this went towards travel to and from Sheffield.

"Without this support, I would not have been able to reach my potential and represent Haverfordwest and Pembrokeshire at the championships.," said Kelsey.
