Cresselly (203 for 4) drew with St Ishmaels (256 for 1)

There were runs aplenty at Cresselly as St Ishmaels belted a huge 256 for 1 and then the home side responded with a creditable 203 for 4 as the batsmen got on top of the bowlers on a sunny day.

There were few early hints of the mammoth score to follow as St Ishmaels lost skipper Andrew Palmer for a single with the score on 12, bowled by Lyn Richards as part of a 1 for 17 haul from the Cresselly veteran in his 12 overs.

But then the carnage started as Pawlett smashed 15 fours and three sixes in his superb innings of 132 not out and found the perfect foil in Peter Bradshaw at the other end, who kept rotating the strike and stroking seven fours and four sixes en route to his first league century of 102 not out.

Tish finished their 45 overs in prime position on 256 for 1 as the pair celebrated an unbroken stand of 244 runs.

Cresselly skipper Phil Williams led his team by example after tea with a stylish 75 (seven fours), before he was bowled by Andrew Palmer, and found support from Matthew Morgan, who had eight fours in his 50 before he was caught by keeper Bradshaw off Danny Flynn’s off-spin.

Simon Cole contributed 46 but got run out and Cresselly settled for the draw 54 runs short of their target and with only five points in the bag for their efforts as Tish claimed 22 points.
