Carew (222 for 5) drew with Whitland (235 for 5)

There were runs galore at Carew as Whitland scored a creditable 235 for 5 before Carew gave chase, but were still 14 runs short of victory when the stumps were drawn.

Dai Lee helped Whitland to a good start with his 36 runs alongside Jonathan Thomas, whose classy 70 included eight fours and two sixes.

Kevin Pearce belted five boundaries in his 49 before he was caught attempting a big hit, while Iestyn Scourfield provided a late surge in a final total of 235 for 5 with three fours and four big sixes in his rapid-fire 42 not out. For Carew, Rhys Davies led the way with 2 for 33 alongside TomDavies (1 for 58), James Hinchliffe (1 for 47) and Adam Chandler (1 for 26) as Carew toiled hard with little success.

It was a similar story after tea as Brian Hall (23) and Nick Scourfield (55, including six fours) gave Carew a solid start and Ian Sefton continued his good form with ten fours and two sixes in his 80 runs.

Tim Hicks announced his return to action with a speedy 39 not out that included three fours and two sixes. It helped Carew go close, but useful bowling by Jonathan Thomas (3 for 68) and Mark Lee (2 for 42, plus a terrific catch to get rid of Scourfield) meant that Whitland claimed the better of a very good drawn game.
