THERE was no shortage of goals as the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League got underway last night.
In Division One, it was Merlins Bridge who notched a 2-1 win away at West Dragons. Full report and pictures here.
At The Obs, champions Hakin United opened up with a 6-2 win over Herbrandston.
The Vikings led after five minutes through Nicky Woodrow's deflected shot, and doubled the lead ten minutes before the break when Daniel Armstrong headed in an Adam John corner.
Woodrow sealed his hat trick within 15 minutes of the second half re-start, with two sharp right footed finishes, before Scott Reid pulled one back for Herbie from the penalty spot.
Ben Fawcett and Justin Harding added further goals for The Vikings, before Reid grabbed a second for the visitors late on.
At Phoenix Park, Goodwick United were made to work hard by Clarbeston Road, despite The Phoenix Boys taking a 2-0 lead through Jordan Griffiths and Rhys Dalling.
But the hosts were forced to hang on after Matthew Davies struck for Clarbie.
Carew deservedly won at Narberth.
The Rooks didn't make their first half pressure tell, but then prevailed 2-0 with second half strikes from Scott Ferney and James Hinchcliffe.
A Thomas Powell hat trick inspired Monkton Swifts to a big derby win over Pennar Robins.
Powell scored three of the five Monkton goals, with Shaun Jones and Jason Finnegan also striking.
Neyland got off to a flying start at home to Milford United.
The Nomads triumphed 4-0, with Geraint Rees scoring twice, and Wayne Parry and Mike Chandler also finding the net.
And it was Angle who also notched three points with a good win at home to Lamphey.
Goals from Gareth Fisher and Josh Clark got the home side off to a winning start.
