WRU Women's Division One:
Senghenydd Sirens 21-19 Haverfordwest Ladies
HAVERFORDWEST Ladies travelled to Senghenydd with a changed team on Sunday and narrowly failed to get a win despite a brave second half comeback.
The Blues started slowly and went behind to a penalty mid way through the first half following sustained pressure from a powerful Sirens pack.
The Sirens then scored two tries through the forwards making it 13-0 at half time.
The Blues' new backline combination, which included the returning Stephanie Harris, started to gel after the break with two quick tries by outside centre Lisa Neumann, one converted by outside half Holly Couzens.
The Sirens then scored a breakaway try against the run of play.
The Blues, who had travelled without replacements, had a try disallowed for a forward pass, before ill-discipline saw the Sirens awarded a penalty to make it 21-12.
The Blues piled on the pressure in the closing stages and a great individual try by no 8 Awen Prysor converted by Couzens made it 21-19.
But time ran out and the Blues could only manage a losing bonus point.
