DRAGONS hooker Elliot Dee is ready to ramp up the intensity again as Wales bid to ensure they finish the job of claiming top spot in their World Cup group.

Warren Gatland’s men have started the tournament perfectly with a bonus-point win against Georgia followed by the thrilling win 29-25 success against Australia.

Beating the Wallabies puts Wales in command of Pool D and if they avoid an upset against dangerous Fiji and then deal with minnows Uruguay then they are likely to avoid the half of the knockout stages featuring England and New Zealand.

The bruising encounter against the Aussies came just six days after the Georgia fixture so the squad spent the start of this week recharging the batteries in Otsu.

They now ramp up the preparations for the meeting with Fiji in Oita on Wednesday (kick-off 10.45am).

Western Telegraph:

"The short turnaround was intense. We trained really hard in the lead-up to the Australia game, and it paid off,” said hooker Dee, who has come off the bench to replace Ken Owens in the opening fixtures.

"On the flip side of that, I don't think you can stay that intense for the whole eight weeks. It's nice to have down days and a few days when you are not thinking about your job, when you can switch off.

"Then when it comes to turning it back on again, it's easy, you flip a switch and you are back into it.

"It's a lot quieter here than in Tokyo, and sometimes that can be nice to totally relax and chill out."

After doing the hard work by beating the Australians, Wales don't want to slip up against a Fiji team who showed their talent when demolishing Georgia.

"We want to keep our momentum, we don't want to fall off," said forwards coach Robin McBryde.

"We don't want to flog ourselves too hard now, but when we do start building up for that Fiji game I think there will still be a bit of momentum behind us from the first two games and that confidence to go out there and show what we can do."
