SAM Costelow may have grabbed all the headlines in Wales Under-20s' stunning win in England but Dragons centre Aneurin Owen has been hailed as his perfect foil.

The duo will join forces again in the Welsh young gun's Six Nations finale against Scotland in Colwyn Bay this evening (kick-off 7.35pm).

All eyes will be on Costelow, whose move to the Scarlets from Leicester was confirmed this week fresh from his match-winning exploits at Kingsholm.

The 19-year-old from Pencoed racked up a full house after scoring a superb individual try, kicking a pair of conversions, two penalties and the vital late drop goal.

Yet Owen played his part on the fly-half's outside shoulder, impressing in the 12 jersey.

The 19-year-old from Newport has started all five Six Nations games for the second season on the spin after recovering from a pre-tournament hamstring injury, and has earned the praise of his boss.

"We are all pretty aware of Aneurin's talent as a footballer in that midfield," said Wales Under-20s head coach Gareth Williams.

"There is a lot of talk about Sam Costelow after last weekend but having Aneurin alongside him is a massive help. That shone through in these big wins.

"He has developed physically and had a few good little dents in the midfield. The England 10 will be having a few nightmares about him because he went down that channel pretty well and gave us some front-foot ball."

Western Telegraph:

Owen is rated highly by the Dragons management will push for senior action in midfield after leaving the age-grade ranks next year.

"Aneurin is out of the under-20s next season, (director of rugby) Dean Ryan and (rugby manager) James Chapron have an excellent track record of developing young players," said Williams.

"He is in good hands there and is an exciting prospect to be under their guidance."

Owen is joined in the starting line-up to face Scotland by Dragons lock Ben Carter.

Rodney Parade teammates Will Griffiths, Ed Scragg and Dafydd Buckland on the bench to cover hooker, lock and scrum-half respectively.

Bristol Bears' Ioan Lloyd replaces an injured Jacob Beetham at full-back as Wales attempt to finish the campaign with a hat-trick of wins after beating France and the English.

"The challenge this week is to recover quickly from the England game and keep that momentum going against a very good Scottish side," said Williams.

"It will be good to finish the competition with that momentum but we know how difficult the challenge against Scotland will be. They have been excellent this season and probably haven't got the results they have deserved.

"They did a job on us last year and a lot of those players are returning so we are quite aware of what they are capable of.

"They have had consistency in selection so we have to make sure we are at the levels we were against France and England to keep that momentum going.

"We've managed the two games very well, varied our game of when to run it, when to kick it and also played in the right areas of the pitch. We did that effectively in the last two games and came out on top when we really exerted pressure on two very difficult teams."
