TEN young performers got the chance to shine on stage when they travelled to north Wales last week.

Torch Theatre youth and education officers Chloe Wheeler and Johnny Lock accompanied members of its youth theatre group to Llandudno on Friday, August 18, to perform and partake in RawFfest 2017.

A new youth arts festival for Wales, RawFfest is fun, innovative and surprising, and is planned and programmed by young people for young people.

The trip, supported by Mayor of Milford Haven Cllr Colin Sharp and his husband Cllr Guy Woodham, saw the group put together their own production, and perform it at the Venue Cymru in Llandudno.

The youngsters spent four days rehearsing the piece, which talked about social media, the internet, and how it affects our every day lives.

The group also took part in several fantastic workshops over the festival weekend: acting skills with National Youth Theatre of Wales, conversations, colouring and festival glitter in the sleepy teepee, printing their own t-shirts, storytelling and physical theatre.

The young people involved were Holly Mayhew, Amber McFadden, Dana Blythe, Megan John, Lauren Boyle, Cameron Elena Saunders, Benjamin Elrick, Ben Asson, Morys Price, and Henry Hunt.

The Torch Youth Theatre would like to thank Cllr Sharp, who chose the project as one of his mayoral charities this year, and helped get the group to the festival.

There were also thanks to Chris Davies of Austwel Engineering, who kindly supplied a mini bus for the journey.
