Stylish and luxurious forms of transport will be on show at the ever-popular Groombridge Place Gardens later this month and some lucky News Shopper readers could be there to see them.

On Sunday, June 23, a whole host of hot air balloons some in unusual shapes will be tethered in the gardens, which are near Tunbridge Wells. Pilots and crews will explain to visitors how the balloons are inflated, flown and landed.

In the early evening, if the weather conditions are right, the balloons will take off and drift above the house, moat and gardens.

For those who prefer something a little faster, sleek 180mph Ferraris will also be on show. There will be some expensive marques to drool over, including an incredibly rare £350,000 F50.

There will also be music and the 17th-Century formal gardens will be a blaze of midsummer colour with sheltered seats in bowers and a giant chessboard to play with.

Twice a day there will be the whacky Groombridge Place Stakes, where six pigs (as seen on BBC and Meridian TV) race around a track. Eddie Hare will also present his birds-of-prey flying demonstrations three times a day.

All this is in addition to Groombridge Place's usual attractions includin the Enchanted Forest full of magical places to discover, the aerial walkway with its ropes and slides, giant swings and canal boat ride.

The gardens are normally open between 9am and 6pm daily but will stay open until 8pm for this event. Tickets are £8 adults, £7 seniors and £6.50 children aged three to 12. A family ticket, for two adults and two children, costs £26.
