YOUNG people in Milford Haven had a chance to unleash their creativity this summer, when more than 30 youngster took part in the ‘Under the Bridge’ project.

The six-week initiative took place underneath Hakin Bridge every Friday night over the school holidays, giving young people from Milford Haven an opportunity to take part in workshops delivering abstract art, mosaic work, parkour, mind mapping, and dance.

‘Under The Bridge’ aimed to positively engage young people with the arts and was funded by the Port of Milford Haven and Arts & Business Cymru.

It was delivered in partnership with Milford Youth Matters, The VC Gallery, Arts Care Gofal Celf and the Torch Theatre.

PR and communications manager at the Port of Milford Haven, Anna Malloy, said she was delighted that so many young people had an opportunity to try something different.

“I was thrilled to hear that the sessions had a good turnout and that those who attended had such a great time," she said.

"It was a pleasure to partner with other local organisations to deliver a project that inspired young people to engage with various art forms in a safe environment.

"I hope this is something we as a community can build on and repeat in future years.”

Arts & Business Cymru’s chief executive Rachel Jones said “A&B Cymru was absolutely delighted to be a partner on this project.

"What a tangible, effective and creative way to come together for the true good of young people and the community.

"Congratulations to all involved.”

Milford Haven Mayor Stephen Joseph attended the final exhibition evening at the Torch Theatre where the young people proudly showcased their work to their families and other community members.

Commenting on the exhibition he said, “I am really impressed with the Under the Bridge project and with the work that has been produced by Milford’s young people.

"It was also great to see so many parents turning out for the final exhibition.”
