TOURING theatre company Heartbreak Productions will be bringing their unique adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma to Carew Castle on Sunday.
It is the first time in their 24 year history, that the outdoor theatre specialists from Warwickshire have performed at the castle.
Presented as a ‘play within a play’, a cast of six actors play a group of Romantic artists who tell the story, using Austen’s writing to inspire their work. The story centres on the loveable, meddling, Emma, who with all the hubris of youth, plays romantic matchmaker with her friends and fails miserably.
This is the chance to enjoy an unforgettable evening watching a professional company perform in this spectacular location.
Emma will take place in the central part of the castle, accompanied by live pianist.
Carew Castle manager Daisy Hughes said: “We are delighted to be working with Heartbreak Productions to showcase Emma in the beautiful setting of Carew Castle.
"We hope that people will spend time soaking up the atmosphere beforehand and return with families to see what else we have on offer throughout the year.
"We wish all the actors and crew the best of success with the show.”
Audience members are asked to bring their own chairs and a picnic (and some warm layers for later) to Carew Castle on Sunday, August 2, from 6pm. The performance starts at 7pm.
Tickets can be purchased from the castle in person or by calling 01646 651782. Prices are £14 adults, £10 concessions, £8 child and £38 family (2+2).
Carew Castle and Tidal Mill are managed by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.
