A Milford Haven hotel previously described by police as ‘a haven for criminals’, has applied to have its licence extended, a little over a year after it was revoked by Pembrokeshire County Council.
The county licensing sub committee meets today (Thursday) to decide on the application.
The Haven Hotel has applied to extend the hours it can supply alcohol to 9am-1am, Monday to Saturday and 9am to midnight on Sunday.
It has also applied for a number of other extensions, including increasing its opening hours to 6am to 1.30am Monday to Saturday and 6am-12.30am on Sunday.
The hotel had appealed the council’s decision to revoke its licence in November 2011, but before the case was heard in May 2012, moderation between the licence holder, police and council licensing department resulted in a reduced licence being granted.
Dyfed-Powys Police Licensing Officer Nigel Hayes has now written to the council expressing the force’s “strong objection” to the new application which it called “extremely premature”.
