CUTBACKS are to be made to Pembrokeshire’s popular coastal bus services following cuts to central government funding.
Taking on board the result of over 300 responses to a public consultation – along with an analysis of usage figures – Pembrokeshire County Council said the service will now be reconfigured as follows: The Poppit Rocket (between Cardigan and Fishguard), Strumble Shuttle (between Fishguard and St Davids), Puffin Shuttle North (between St Davids and Marloes) and the Coastal Cruiser (the Angle peninsula) will continue to operate seven days a week during the summer, but – starting on September 30th – will only run on Thursdays and Saturdays during the winter.
The Celtic Coaster, which provides a park and ride and coastal bus service to the St Davids peninsula, will continue to run seven days a week but with a slightly reduced period of operation and frequency.
The results of the consultation on the proposed cuts confirmed that the Puffin Shuttle South (serving Marloes to Milford Haven and Haverfordwest) is mainly a commuter route. Therefore, this service will no longer operate on Sundays.
