After months of secrecy, Oakwood theme park has revealed its new £4m family attraction will be themed on J. M. Barrie's much-loved story Peter Pan.

'Neverland' will feature a Skull Rock pirate log flume, complete with 12-metre-tall sculpted skull, and attractions such as the Lost Boys' Adventure, Neverland Chase and Tink's Flying School.

Oakwood's Dominic Jones said: "It's been tough to keep the name and theme of the new area secret for so long but we really wanted it to be a surprise.

"What better inspiration for a theme park could there be than Peter Pan - the boy who would not grow up?"

Journey to Neverland will be an interactive walkthrough, taking visitors to the Darling family home and above the streets of London before arriving in the new Neverland area.

Other areas are themed as London parks and there is also a children's Aerodrome ride as well as food and retail outlets.

Mr Jones added that the new area is by far the biggest investment at Oakwood in recent times.

Neverland is set to open to visitors later this month.
