The young leader of the Labour group on Pembrokeshire County Council has been chosen by the party to fight the next General Election.

Paul Miller, age 25, from Neyland, has been chosen as the Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate in the Preseli Pembrokeshire seat, currently held by Conservative MP and Wales Office Minister Stephen Crabb.

Cllr Miller was only elected to Pembrokeshire County Council at the 2012 local elections and immediately became leader of the Labour group on the council.

Cllr Miller told the Western Telegraph: "It was an honour to be chosen by Labour as their candidate to fight the 2015 election.

"With a whole two years before the vote it feels like a long time away, but I can’t wait to get out there and meet even more people from across Pembrokeshire and talk to them about how I and Labour want to do things differently here in Preseli Pembrokeshire.

"From helping to regenerate our town centres, with bolder and more decisive action, to allowing our local authorities to get back to building much need council homes for our families.

"I’m certain there’s a different way to rebuild our economy in Wales, while always delivering for Pembrokeshire and always ensuring we each get the same chance in life. No one will work harder or fight harder for this county than me and I look forward to proving that to people over the next two years."

Under the fixed term Parliament, the next General Election will be held on May 7th, 2015.
