HUNDREDS of people joined in the fun at Pembroke Dock’s Fire Station open day, which was held at the end of August.
The afternoon featured an aerial rescue pump, a chip pan fire safety demonstration and the swift water rescue team from Milford Haven, while Pembroke Dock young firefighters entertained the crowd with displays and drills.
There was also face painting, a road accident rescue simulation, and a search and rescue exercise with Sparky, the service’s specially trained dog.
The day raised much-needed funds for The Fire Fighters Charity.
Station manager Graeme Callan said: “Open days like this are very important for putting across fire safety messages.
“Although we spend a lot of time proactively in the community, that’s the one way we can get the message across to people.”
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Authority member Councillor Wynne Evans and service chaplain Reverend Canon Illtyd Protheroe attended the open day.
