LOCAL businesses are invited to learn more about human rights law and its importance in the workplace at a free workshop next month.

The Human Rights UK tour, organised by the British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) comes to Merlin’s Bridge on October 9, and aims to educate local people about human rights and their place within the workplace.

The sessions, which will be hosted by Pembrokeshire People First, will give a practical introduction to human rights, providing real life examples and debates.

BIHR is a national charity that helps civil organisations to understand the Humans Right Act which includes the right to private and family life, the right to not be discriminated against, and the the right to freedom of opinion and expression.

Pembrokeshire People First (PPF) is a registered charity run by and for adults with learning difficulties in Pembrokeshire.

Members recently worked with artists Josie Coggins and Llew Jones to design a booklet explaining human rights and the importance of treating everyone fairly.

PPF project coordinator Pamela Evans said: “Human right are at the core of everything we do at PPF – ensuring equality and dignity for everyone in our community.”
