THE Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series returns to Abereiddy today(Friday) amid huge excitement from the Pembrokeshire public.

Tickets for both Friday and Saturday sold out within hours of going on sale, following the stunning success of the event last year.

Today, gates will open at 11am with the first practice dives taking place at 12.30pm. On Saturday, the final rounds begin at 2.20pm. Spectators are advised to arrive early to avoid queuing.

The event is the sixth in the 2014 eight event series. England's Gary Hunt is the current leader on 780 points, with Artem Silchenko of Russia second with 700.

Southampton based Hunt said: “I can’t wait for this one.

"I was a bit disappointed to be in third place last year. I’m just going to be working hard to be on top of that podium again."

The divers will propel themselves off a 27 metre platform, and will hit the water at speeds of around 85 kilometres per hour.
