PEMBROKE inaugural autumn food festival is to be held at the Town Hall on Saturday, October 12.

The event is being organised by Pembroke Farmers’ Market, which is also behind the town’s potato festival held earlier on in the year.

The autumn food festival will showcase local and seasonal food, as well as highlighting other new developments at the market and the work of Pembroke Food project, which includes a community growing scheme at St Oswald’s House garden and a new Bread Club.

Chefs from Food at Williams, Main Street, and the Stackpole Inn will be doing demonstrations and there will be a low carbon cook off, children’s activities, talks and competitions.

The newly-formed Pembroke Bread Club will also be giving demonstrations.

The market is developing in all sorts of ways after receiving a grant from Environment Wales.

A community stall is being set up at the market for people to sell surplus produce, including fruit, vegetables, plants, seedlings and wood.

In return for proceeds members are asked to volunteer their time to help on the stall. The money can also be donated to a charity or to help the market.

And the market café has now opened its doors to community groups, who can raise funds by serving food made from local produce on market days.
