CHILDREN at Pennar Community School were treated to a special visitor last week as Mr Clevver’s puppet company pitched up at the school to perform Nuclear Family - a show focused on the uniqueness of individual personalities and human relationships.

The visit, supported by Communities First, was part of Mr Clevver’s summer tour of Wales, which included performances at castles, abbeys, pubs and other venues.

Mr Clevver arrived on a self-contained truck which opened out into a theatre and pupils from years five and six sat on benches under the theatre’s awning to watch the mysterious show.

Following the performance, pupils were given the opportunity to learn more about the puppets and the box office, which converts into a living area while the crew are on tour.

Pembrokeshire Communities First learning officer Pip Welton said: “Mr Clevver’s Puppet Company was an absolute hit with the children and they were amazed at how he moved independently.

“Introducing such creative art forms to children is just one part of the enrichment programme we deliver in the local area.”

The project is a collaboration between Heather and Ivan Morrison, and National Theatre Wales.

Pennar Community School is one of six primary schools in Pembrokeshire supported by the Pembrokeshire Communities First programme.
