A 23-year-old Cardiff woman has denied causing the death of her best friend through careless driving during a road accident near Red Roses last spring.
Denize Okutan, of Coleford Road in St Mellons, was behind the wheel of a Peugeot 206 travelling towards Tenby when the car was involved in a collision with an oncoming vehicle on the A477 at 5pm on March 10, 2013.
Okutan's friend and passenger Emma Louise Llewellyn was declared dead at the scene.
Okutan and another passenger, along with the four members of the second vehicle, were taken to Withybush and Morriston hospitals for treatment.
District Judge David Parsons, sitting at Llanelli magistrates court, ruled that due to the circumstances behind the collision the case was suitable for trial at the lower court, however Okutan elected to have the case heard before a judge and jury.
Okutan was released on unconditional bail.
She is due to appear at Swansea Crown Court on March 13.
