Pembrokeshire County Council has selected Abbeymore Estates and builders Knox & Wells Limited as developers for the old primary school site in Moorfield Road, Narbeth.
The joint venture combines Abbeymore Estates - an experienced retail developer headed by local Narbeth resident David Gee - with Knox & Wells, one of Wales’ oldest and respected building contractors, which have undertaken a number of prestigious retail developments.
The scheme will provide a parade of shop units on the ground floor with residential units above. It will be anchored by a national food retailer convenience store.
Although the project is at an early stage it is hoped a detailed planning application will be submitted within the next couple of months.
David Gee said: “We are very excited about working on this important site in the heart of Narberth.
“We are keen to use the development to enhance the retail experience of Narberth and build upon its very strong reputation as a destination retail centre.
“It is a wonderful opportunity to link the Town Moor Car Park with the High Street which can only help the town centre and create jobs and greater prosperity.”
