A teenager from Haverfordwest who admitted downloading child pornography has been placed under the supervision of the probation service.
James Patrick Francis, 19, of Market Street, pleaded guilty to two offences of possessing indecent images and two offences of making them.
Dean Pulling, prosecuting, had told Swansea crown court last week that more images had been found on two mobile telephones but the Crown Prosecution Service had decided they were not illegal.
They appeared to have been taken from an upstairs bedroom window and showed boys aged about seven playing in the street without any clothing on their upper bodies.
Judge Paul Thomas made Francis the subject of a two year intensive alternative to custody order which includes a sexual offences treatment programme.
Francis was also ordered to undergo any mental health treatment the probation service decided was necessary.
He was also banned from deleting the browsing history of his computer and to make it available for inspection, and told not to associate with children under the age of 16 unless an adult with parental control is present.
Francis had spent a month in custody waiting to be sentenced.
Judge Thomas told him, “You have a problem. Unless and until you come to terms with it you will be a potential risk.
“You have had a taste of what prison is like and no doubt you will not be in a hurry to repeat it.,” he added.
