PCC’S preferred option of relocating the library to Haverfordwest’s Riverside Market greatly concerns me, not least because I have been trading there for over 30 years. I agree that the library should have a town centre location, but it is surely obvious that the Shire Hall is the best option. It is the most attractive and historical building in the middle of town and its size means it has greater potential. It could accommodate a library and information centre as well as a town museum, artistic exhibitions, creative workshops etc I read in your last issue that a ‘creative collaboration’ has been set up and named ‘confluence’ whose stated aim is a ‘re-imagining of the town’.
My re-imagining would begin with the Shire Hall in the way I have outlined. It would be a meaningful step towards over 20 years of decline in the centre of Haverfordwest.
