TRANSITION Bro Gwaun is hosting a two day seminar at Goodwick's Phoenix Centre to promote community-led regeneration.

Discussions will be based on how to revive town centres, how to make communities more resilient to better meet the needs of future generations and how to develop new ways of doing businesses that are both sustainable and community-supported.

Guest speakers include Julian Dobson, author of How to Save our Town Centre, who will explain what other communities around the UK have done to revitalise their towns.

Jay Tompt from Totnes REconomy Project will talk about the Local Entrepreneur Forum, which sees budding entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to an audience of local people who in return offer their skills, unwanted equipment, empty spaces and pretty much anything that might help a new local business grow.

The chair of Wales Council for Voluntary Action, Peter Davies will also be present.

Chris Samra of Transition Bro Gwaun said: “We’re proud of the start we’ve already made in revitalising Fishguard and Goodwick: we’ve saved our cinema from closure, run highly successful jazz, classical and folk music festivals; the Greening group are planting up the towns; and our transition group runs a surplus food café and has the first community wind turbine in Wales."

The seminar takes place from March 14-15.
