Pembrokeshire County Council leader Cllr Jamie Adams has said he accepts the decision to reject plans to shake-up education in Haverfordwest.
Plans to close Sir Thomas Picton and Tasker Milward Schools and provide sixth form at a new centre at Pembrokeshire College were rejected by 31 votes to 24 yesterday (Thursday).
The plans had been hugely unpopular with more than 70% of respondents to a consultation rejecting the proposals.
Today (Friday) Cllr Adams, said: “We recognise and accept the position of Council and look forward to moving ahead positively in terms of the re-organisation of secondary education in Haverfordwest.
“As we have said many times, the education of our children is of paramount importance to us and we are resolute in our determination to achieve the very best outcome for them.
“This is a new phase of education planning for Haverfordwest and we are keen to bring pupils, staff, governors, trustees and the wider school community with us as we embark on this journey.
“As previously, all options will be considered.”
