Tenby’s Fourcroft Hotel – a striking landmark on the skyline overlooking the town’s popular North Beach and harbour – has been bought by Northern Powerhouse Developments.

The hotel will be operated by Giant Hospitality, owned by Gavin Woodhouse and Northern Powerhouse Developments.

In the same family since the early 1940s, the distinctive Georgian terrace hotel was sold for an undisclosed sum following a deal brokered by Colliers International.

The Giant Hospitality hotel management group has a growing portfolio of UK-based hotels which they manage on behalf of the Northern Powerhouse Developments portfolio.

Northern Powerhouse Developments chairman Gavin Woodhouse said: “We are delighted to add the Fourcroft to our UK hotel portfolio.

"This is the first of four hotels we are acquiring and opening in South Wales to complement our existing hotels up and down the coastline of the United Kingdom.”

The Fourcroft will be the sister hotel to the Llandudno Bay Hotel and Spa, part of the group’s premier hotel collection.

Mr Woodhouse added: “Tenby is an amazing location and offers some of the most picturesque views I have seen anywhere in the world - it is hard not to be seduced by its charm.

"We are keen to compliment the local businesses and hope to be part of the future success of Tenby and the surrounding areas.

“It has been amazing to see the passion Chris Osborne has demonstrated over the hotel and towards his guests.

"Our aim is to continue to maintain a personal style and touch to the service while providing it the security of a much larger operating machine supporting it through operation.

“We wish Chris well with the next chapter whatever that may be and thank him for laying such great foundations for us to commence our journey upon.”

Colliers International Hotels Director Peter Brunt said the Fourcroft Hotel was one of the outstanding properties in the area.

“With much of the town’s economy depending on tourism, Tenby has three huge factors in its favour: a fantastic situation on Carmarthen Bay, great road communications via the M4 and half a dozen or more top notch tourist attractions within a very short distance - the Fourcroft Hotel has arguably the best location for a hotel in town.

“Tenby has always been a favourite resort for visitors to Pembrokeshire and this hotel, with its fabulous views and beautiful private gardens leading down to the beach, is a very well-established destination for Wales, the Midlands and further afield.”

Just five minutes’ walk from Tenby’s familiar walled town centre, the freehold Fourcroft Hotel has been regularly upgraded and provides 40 well-appointed letting bedrooms – most of which overlook the bay.

Ossie Morgan’s restaurant has sea views and seating for up to 100 and there is also a conservatory, outdoor swimming pool and meeting rooms.
