LOOK out on Pembrokeshire's highways and byways this weekend for a colourful motor cavalcade, brought to the county by the Lotus Drivers Club of Great Britain.

Around 30 gleaming vehicles from the charismatic sports car marque assembled on Saundersfoot harbour yesterday (Saturday) morning, ahead of a weekend of runs taking in both coastal and inland scenery of Pembrokeshire.

The weekend has been arranged by Lotus owner Dave Boneham of Ammanford, who has a holiday home in Saundersfoot.

"You don't see many Lotuses west of Cardiff, so last year I got over 20 cars down for a weekend, and everyone loved it," he said.

"This year, we have around 30 cars, including one making a 800-mile round trip all the way from Germany.

"To have 30 Lotuses all together in this neck of the woods is quite a unique event."

Based at Saundersfoot's Gower Hotel, the drivers were up bright and early this morning for a 150-mile run, taking in Manorbier, Pembroke, St Govans, the Green Bridge of Wales, Angle, Pembroke, Broadhaven, Newgale, St Davids, Newport, Eglwyswrw, the Preselis, Maenclocholog, Narberth and Carew.

Today (Sunday), the drivers will follow an inland route to Fishguard before heading out to Strumble Head and up the coast to Cardigan, via Pentre Ifan; then on to Cenarth, Crymych, Narberth, Red Roses, with a stop at Pendine Museum of Speed before arriving back in Saundersfoot.
