A HAVERFORDWEST pensioner whose three-legged dog was viciously mauled by another dog has appealed for witnesses to prevent further attacks.

Angela Vincent-Hine’s beloved pooch Bo-Diddley needed seven stitches to his face after he was flung into the air “like a rag doll” in the incident last week.

Part of Bo’s jaw was smashed and two teeth were torn out, leaving Angela with a vet bill of £427.

Angela aims to track down the dog owner as she is fearful that children or other dogs could be at risk from attack.

The incident happened on Tuesday when Angela went in her mobility scooter to the Londis store at St Thomas Green, Haverfordwest.

“Since he had his leg off, Bo has been very close to me,” she said. “So when I go out I have to take him with me otherwise he whines and barks.

“I’ve got this basket on the back of my mobility scooter where he sits.

“Standing outside Londis was a young chap with a black Staffy-Labrador cross. It was quite a big dog but I would think that it was only a puppy.

“I am just about to go into the shop and all of a sudden I hear this squealing and this dog has picked Bo out of the basket, thrown him in the air like a rag doll and clamped his jaw onto him.

“I managed to slap this dog off him and release him. I tried to pick Bo up but he ran down the road and I thought, ‘Oh no, not another leg missing’.”

Angela then gave chase on her mobility scooter, asking people if they had seen Bo.

She eventually made it home where she found him trembling and barking.

“There was blood everywhere.

“When I touched his jaw something was moving and I thought it was either a tooth or a bit of jaw. I phoned the vets immediately and they said to bring him straight in.”

Two teeth were ripped out, but the roots remain, meaning Bo will need further surgery.

Angela, who donates £10 a month to the RSPCA, fears she won’t be able to cover the cost as she recently lost her disability living allowance.

She contacted the dog warden and reported the incident to the police, but was told that because it was a dog-on-dog incident nothing could be done.

The pensioner is now worried that the dog may attack other dogs or even children.

“He had the dog on the lead but he had no control over it whatsoever,” she said. “Twice it nearly pulled him over.

“If it’s going to do this to my dog who is so innocuous, what would happen if it was another dog that was similarly aggressive?

“This guy has got to be found and either they muzzle it or get it put down.”
