RECEPTION pupils at Lamphey Primary School experienced a taste of the sea at Freshwater West beach, under the watchful eye of Jonathan Williams.
The pupils explored the rock pools of the beach where a variety of edible seaweeds were shown to them.
After making a seaweed mermaid on the beach the pupils and staff had a tasting session from some of the delicious seaweed-inspired dishes served at Café Mor.
Isla, from Reception Class, was presented with a t-shirt from Mr Williams for her fantastic artwork in designing and colouring a mermaid.
Head teacher Simon Thomas said: “The children on Pembrokeshire are so fortunate to have so many wonderful beaches on our doorstep.
“It is so nice to see the children of Lamphey Primary School being educated in what fantastic natural produce is on our doorstep, and how this can be used to make so many delicious foods. I would strongly recommend the seaweed and ginger cake, which was simply delicious.”
