I WRITE with reference to the story ‘Beach front tree chop axed by park planners’ in last week’s Western Telegraph.
A number of organisations in Saundersfoot objected to the application to fell this landmark tree, including the community council and the Saundersfoot Historical Society, but it was the Friends of Saundersfoot and District who led the campaign.
The Friends submitted a very detailed objection with photographs that highlighted the position of the tree, addressed the park’s development management committee and alone funded the independent report the Telegraph mentioned.
The Friends warmly welcomed the park’s decision to reject the application and it is hoped that the Monterey cypress on Scar Rock on our front beach will continue to delight residents and visitors alike for many years to come.
