A FISHGUARD artist's painting will be on display at the next antiques fair and vintage market at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.

An oil painting by Royston Hopson, a well-loved Fishguard character and artist will be on display at the fair held on Saturday October 7 and Sunday October 8.

The abstract oil on board painting by "The Artist Who Lived to Paint" depicts a striking scene in purple and pink, and will be on show in the Glass House throughout the weekend.

Alongside Royston’s painting will be a display of Welsh pottery, art and period Welsh oak furniture from child's chairs, milking stools to dressers and linen press cupboards.

Richard Bebb will be displaying a rich array of Welsh paintings including artists such as Kyffin Williams.

Brita Rogers, organiser of Derwen Fairs, said: “The fair has proved to be a recipe for success, increasing in size to up to 100 stands and includes many more stands outside.

“We have recorded record numbers of visitors this year and demand is high, so our Botanic Gardens series of fairs now includes an extra date in July, making four fairs for 2017.”

A new addition to the fair is the Vintage Antiques Market in the Millennium Courtyard.

There will also be a selection of militaria stands displaying unusual items from the past including rare medals, military swords and vintage fire arms.

The fair opens at 10am and closes at 4.30pm. Admission to the Garden and for the Antiques Weekend is just £4 Entry is free for Garden members.
