The problem highlighted yesterday (Thursday) with the Cleddau Bridge information sign at Carew roundabout on the A477 in South Pembrokeshire still remains.
The sign is jammed on the Bridge Closed message even though the bridge is currently open.
A shear pin has snapped within the mechanism, meaning the sign cannot be turned by hand, which is the normal back-up for this eventuality.
It was anticipated that an engineer from the company which maintains the sign would be on site this morning (Friday, 19th January).
However, the council said: "Regrettably that engineer had to call off his visit due to illness.
"The ‘Closed’ message on the sign therefore remains visible."
But additional temporary signage has now been erected at the site to inform motorists of the broken sign.
The bilingual sign advises motorists: 'Cleddau Bridge Open - Sign Not Working’
