PATIENTS of Tenby Surgery - which comes under health board management from August 1 - will have a chance today (Monday) to put their views forward on the future of the practice.

Opinions from the local community are being sought at a drop-in session at Tenby Cottage Hospital day room from 3pm to 7pm.

Members of staff from the practice, the Hywel Dda University Health Board and the Community Health Council will be on hand to speak to people and answer any questions, and people are invited to drop in at any time during the afternoon or early evening.

The surgery has been without its full complement of salaried GPs for nearly four years and the recent resignation of Dr Damien Kelly, which takes effect from August 1, prompted the health board taking over control.

Patients have been reassured that the practice will remain open.

Said Jill Paterson, director of primary care at Hywel Dda: "As a health board, we are committed to listening to and engaging with local populations around our proposals to strengthen our Primary Care services in the Tenby area, and we would therefore like to invite residents to come along and get involved in the conversation.

"The health board is looking at opportunities to develop and strengthen services for patients in Tenby, and we are working with the Community Health Council to ensure that the views of patients and the local community are heard."
