FIREFIGHTERS were called to a Haverfordwest street last night, with residents left standing on the pavement as a blaze in an upstairs flat was extinguished.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue’s Haverfordwest team sent a fire engine and a smaller van to the scene of the fire at Cartlett Road.
There were also members of the police and ambulance service on standby in case of emergency.
Shoppers at the Aldi store across the road watched from the car park as the fire crew entered the building to extinguish the upstairs flat fire.
Smoke was reportedly rising from the windows of the building as the fire service arrived at 20.43pm.
The fire was soon extinguished as the crew entered the building using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets.
The fire service handed the building back to the landlord at 10pm.
