DAMAGE has again been caused near to an ancient monument in Pembrokeshire.

A small fire has been lit just in front of the Waun Mawn Stone, part of the Tafarn y Bwlch stone complex, near Brynberian.

Fortunately no damage was caused to the stone itself but this is now the third time this year that an ancient structure in the Preselis has been affected.

Graffiti was scrawled on the 5,500-year-old Pentre Ifan neolithic burial chamber, near Nevern at the beginning of last month.

Back in the summer, an alleged ‘pagan ritual’ caused fire damage at the Gors Fawr stone circle near Mynachlog-ddu. The ritual was believed to have taken place between important pagan dates Beltane and the summer solstice.

Anyone with information about the latest incident is asked to contact the Ceredigion Rural Crime Team by calling 101.
