Tenby and St Govan coastguard rescue team descended the cliffs at West Angle Bay in the dark this evening (Saturday) to come to the aid of an unlucky pup.
Smudge the dog had gone over the cliffs at 3.38pm.
Angle lifeboat was paged to the incident but was unable to recover the dog because of the sea conditions.
Coastguards arranged a rope rescue and a cliff technician was lowered to the dog’s last location. The lifeboat stayed on scene providing lighting and safety cover.
Smudge was found quickly and placed into an animal recovery bag and then taken to the cliff top where he was reunited with his delighted owners.
All rescue teams were then stood down.
