PARISHIONERS attending a small church near Saundersfoot have expressed their sadness after lead was stolen from the church tower roof during the festive period.
The theft is believed to have taken place during the festive period while the church tower was surrounded by scaffolding.
Helen Perrett , of St Issells Church, said on January 9: “We were saddened yesterday [January 8] to discover that someone has stolen the lead from the roof of our church tower. This is obviously in the hands of the police but if any local people drive past the church and observe any suspicious behaviour, or indeed saw something out of place between December 20 and January 5, then we would ask you to report it to the police on 101.
“Please do not approach anyone in any circumstance.”
She stressed: “We at St Issells are very much in the mindset that it is business as usual and we carry on. We have lots to be thankful for and are looking ahead with positive thoughts.
“We are trying to focus on all the good things that are happening with our church and this is a nuisance, but something we can deal with.
Dyfed-Powys Police have been asked for a statement.
