A BROAD HAVEN couple say they could have been killed after nearly losing control of their car on a mud-covered road, which less than 24 hours later led to another driver’s car being seriously damaged.
David Havard, was being driven by his wife Janet along the B4341 road from Haverfordwest, along Portfield Gate when the car hit a patch of mud between 3 and 4pm last Wednesday, January 9.
“The car went away from us; I thought we were going to turn over,” said David.
“It’s quite upset me, we were so close last night; we found ourselves going sideways down the road, I thought we were going to go over.
“If we had rolled over we could have killed ourselves last night and it would’ve been the equivalent of manslaughter.”
“We reported it to the police, but there’s still mud on the road today; there’s another car that’s overturned there.”
A Pembrokeshire County Council spokesman said on Thursday: “Signs were put up yesterday to warn people about mud on the road. The signs remain out today and police have been on site. Contractors are awaited to clean up the mud.”
