A MILFORD Haven kebab shop owner went above and beyond the call of duty, delivering the tasty snacks after his car caught fire and exploded.
On Thursday night, January 17, firefighters were called to Upper Hill Street, Hakin, Milford Haven, to reports of a “well alight” car.
Firefighters tackled the blazing Haven Kebab House delivery car, which actually exploded.
A breaking news story from last night’s blaze may be seen here.
Speaking about his evening ordeal, Haven Kebab House owner Ferhat Cetinkaya said: “Around 6.45pm I was driving up Upper Hill Street, and, as I changed gear, the car just stopped, so I went to restart it, and all of the sudden there were flames coming towards the windscreen, I got out, and as soon as I did there were flames everywhere.
“I dialled 999 then I phoned Tracey [Smith] in the shop to explain what was happening and to inform the other staff, and to call Sam [Edwards] to come and collect the other orders which I had with me.
“Within minutes the emergency services were all there, and the car was well alight; all the windows smashed, and they were telling us to move back and go inside as the car was exploding.
“It was quite scary, but after it was dealt with the deliveries continued as normal.”
