A St Davids man who was ejected from a local club has confessed he was ‘not a good drunk’.

Rudi Rowson of Bryn Road, St Davids, represented himself when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, January 29, and pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

Sophie Hill, prosecuting, told the court that police were called to St Davids RAFA club at 12.40am on January 12, after Rowson, who had been ejected because he had drunk too much, was trying to get back in.

“It took five members of staff to remove him. When officers arrived he was clearly drunk and was using the club wall to stay upright.”

Rowson, 25, started head-butting the rear cage of the police vehicle as he was transported to the police station.

He said: “I am sorry for wasting the police and the court’s time.

“I have been using alcohol as a coping mechanism as I have been through a difficult break up.

“Since this incident I have not touched alcohol and I do not plan to after this because I am not a very good drunk.”

Magistrates fined him £115 and ordered him to pay £115 in costs and a surcharge.
