FOLLOWING the success of last year's human murmuration on Newgale beach Holy Hiatus' Big Flock is running again This year.

The event, run in collaboration with Joon Dance, will take place from 4-5pm on Newgale on Thursday, April 25.

Everyone is welcome to come and join in; all ages and all levels of mobility. Participants will have fun learning some simple movements and keeping in time with their flock. There will be a flock that's just the right speed everyone.

Artist Ruth Jones will be making a short film of the murmuration and is asking participants to wear similar colours; warm layers of blues, turquoises, greys, with no big logos, trainers or other comfortable shoes and warm hats. The event will happen whatever the weather, so if it's raining bring waterproofs.

Children of any age are welcome but under 16s must be accompanied. A parent or guardian must stay with children in the same flock unless the child is over the age of ten.

This year participants will spend a little more time warming up, stretching and learning how to listen to your flock through your body. No dance is experience necessary.

Joon Dance will also be running a two-day outdoor workshop, Spring Gather, on Wednesday April 24 and Thursday, April 25. This will lead up to the Big Flock but it is possible to take part in the Newgale event without attending the workshop.

Participants are asked to register so that the organisers know how many people to expect. Booking costs £2.50 per person, £1 of which will go to RSPB.
