A fisherman with severe chest pains was airlifted to hospital this afternoon, Wednesday September 22, from a boat six miles south east of Worm's Head.

Tenby's all-weather lifeboat was launched at around 12.25pm following a call for assistance from the vessel, Our Dylan Ben.

As the volunteer crew made their way to the vessel, 14 miles south east of Tenby, Fisheries Protection Vessel Rhodri Morgan answered the call for assistance, along with a coastguard rescue helicopter.

Rhodri Morgan was on scene first and put crew members aboard to assess the casualty. They were quickly followed by the coastguard helicopter, whose paramedic was lowered on to the fishing boat. The lifeboat stood off, ready to offer assistance if need be.

After being assessed by the paramedic, the fisherman was winched into the helicopter and flown to hospital in Swansea for further treatment.

The lifeboat was then stood down to return to station, arriving at 1.35pm.
