The Soroptimists in Milford Haven are back meeting after an 18-month break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The meetings are now being held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, as they were previously, and the ladies of the club are back to their usual work in the community.

Several members have now returned to the Torch Theatre for front of house duties, and there was a recent event at Milford Marina to support the charity Breast Cancer Now.

Furthermore, a tree has been planted to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the organisation and there has also been a beach clean at Sandy Haven.

In normal circumstances the club do a beach clean at Sandy Haven in conjunction with the Marine Conservation Society twice a year.

The Marine Conservation Society hold a UK-wide Great British Beach Clean annually at the end of September.

Organisations taking part send a report to the society of everything found including fishing gear, rope, paper, bottles, cans and, of course, the increasing problem of plastic and wet wipes.

The society collates all information received and this gives them a platform to lobby and make the government aware of the depth of the problem with unwanted items being found on British beaches.
